Can an Organic Mattress Help With Bedbugs?

This past year bed bugs have received a fair amount of press, namely for infestations around the country. In case you have recently travelled and stayed in hotels, you may worry about the risk of bringing home a few critters in your luggage - in case you feel that is the case, keep your luggage out of the house (preferably in a garage) until you have determined your house is tidy. Then you can work on cleaning the contents of your luggage, including the case. That done, however, you might wonder if there is a bed you can buy that will repel bed bugs.

Some manufacturers of organic mattresses will have you think that their products are designed to keep bed bugs from infesting your sleep space. Mattresses made of wool batting as against cotton may work to keep bed bugs at bay, though when it comes to these tiny pests - which can grow as large as millimeters and feed on human blood - they may not be eliminated entirely. Having a mattress made of wool, or at the least a woolen mattress topper, may prevent the bugs from bothering you when you sleep, but bear in mind that these insects are not necessarily confined to bed.

In case you experience bites on your hands and feet in the coursework of the waking hours, there is a chance of infestation in your carpets. In case you suspect you have brought home bed bugs, it is best not to try to battle them by yourself, but to consult a professional pest control company. As for whether or not an organic bed will prevent infestation...one can argue that having such a mattress won't hurt. If anything, you may permit yourself a safe place in the event there's bugs in your house.
